Terephthalate plasticizer based on a by-product of polyethylene terephthalate production and waste of production of butyl alcohols
Next products was used as a raw material for the synthesis of plasticizer:
- a terephthalic technical water-flooded acid (TTWFA) - a large-tonnage waste product from the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PETP) by “POLIEF” JSC (TU 2477-077-39989731-2007);
- distillation residues of butyl alcohols (DRBA) - a large-tonnage waste product from the production of butyl alcohol by “Gazprom neftekhim Salavat” LLC (TU 2421-101-05766575-2001).
TTWFA contains 15 ÷ 60% of water, up to 15% (in terms of absolutely dry product) toluic acid and up to 2% of other impurities. Water is removed From TTWFA by azeotropic drying.
An alcohol fraction containing a mixture of 2-ethylhexanol and ethylhexenols is recovered from DRBA by fractional distillation.
A plasticizer is obtained with properties close to DOTF in the end.
