Terephthalate plasticizer based on a by-product of the production of dimethyl terephthalate and waste production of butyl alcohols
For the synthesis of plasticizer as raw materials are used:
- a by-product of the production of dimethyl terephthalate (BPDMTP) produced by “Mogilevkhimvolokno” OJSC, which is a mixture of dimethyl terephthalate and dimethyl isophthalate (71.0-95.0%) mixed with dimethyl phthalate (1.0-4.0%).
- distillation residues of butyl alcohols (DRBA) - large-tonnage waste of production of butyl alcohols by “Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat” LLC (TU 2421-101-05766575-2001), which are a complex mixture of alcohols (mainly C7-C8), ethers and esters, acetals and other impurities, while the content of 2-ethylhexanol in the mixture can reach 50%. There are also unsaturated alcohols In DRBA - isomeric ethylhexenols in the amount of 8-25%.
BPDMTP is used without preliminary processing.
An alcohol fraction containing a mixture of 2-ethylhexanol and ethylhexenols and used to produce a plasticizer is recovered from DRBA by fractional distillation.
The resulting plasticizer has a high flash point, low crystallization temperature, good plasticizing and improved solvating properties.
