NON-PHTHALATE PLASTICIZERS

In addition to terephthalates, cyclohexene dicarboxylic acid esters (cyclohexene dicarboxylates) 1 and norbornene dicarboxylic acid (norbornene dicarboxylic acids) 2, are promising alternative to toxic phthalate plasticizers. They have similar plasticizing properties with DOP, but are not toxic, biodegradable, with low sensitizing properties.

One of the methods for producing such compounds is the interaction of 1,3-dienes with maleic anhydride or fumaric acid, followed by esterification with alcohols. The double bond can be further hydrogenated or epoxidized.

We have developed technologies for producing such compounds based on waste and by-products.
